OSHI NO KO Releases “Marine Day” Special Visual


A new key visual has been released for the ongoing OSHI NO KO TV anime series, in celebration of “Marine Day” in Japan. The special occasion is a public holiday that commemorates the importance of the ocean in the country.  

The new visual features Kana and Akane on a sunny beach with the beautiful blue ocean in the background.

The second season of OSHI NO KO retains many of the staff from season one. Daisuke Hiramaki is directing the anime once again, with Jin Tanaka as screenwriter, Kanna Hirayama as character designer and chief animation director, Amoji (Season 1 key animator) as action animator, Kei Ishiguro as color designer, Takafumi Kuwano (Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie) as compositing director, Studio Easter’s Tetsuya Usami as art director, and Takuro Iga as music composer. Doga Kobo is in charge of the animation production again. 

Shun Sawai (Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie co-main animator), Satomi Watanabe (Season 1 co-costume designer), and Honoka Yokoyama (Season 1 co-main animator) are serving as sub-character designers. Asami Hayakawa, Kimiaki Mizuno, and Ayaka Muroga are credited as the main animators for the second season. Haruka Inade (Season 1 animation director) and Yuta Kevin Kenmotsu (Protocol: Rain sub-character designer) are the chief animation directors, along with Watanabe and Yokoyama. 

Meanwhile, the anime’s main voice cast includes:  

  • • Takeo Otsuka as Aqua Hoshino 
  • • Yurie Igoma as Ruby Hoshino
  • • Megumi Han as Arima Kana
  • • Manaka Iwami as Akane Kurokawa
  • • Rumi Okubo as MEMcho

OSHI NO KO is based on the manga series written by Aka Akasaka (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari (Scum’s Wish). It began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump on April 23, 2020 and has released 14 tankobon volumes as of April 2024, with a 15th volume due out on July 18, 2024. Yen Press releases the manga in English for North America.

The first season aired in April 2023 anime season and ran for 11 episodes. HIDIVE and Bilibili streamed the series internationally, outside of Japan, and is doing the same with season two. 

HIDIVE describes the synopsis of the second season as: 

Aqua’s desire for revenge takes center stage as he navigates the dark underbelly of the entertainment world alongside his twin sister, Ruby. While Ruby follows in their slain mother’s footsteps to become an idol, Aqua joins a famous theater troupe in hopes of uncovering clues to the identity of his father — the man who arranged their mother’s untimely death, and the man who once starred in the same troupe Aqua hopes to infiltrate.
