Battle Grounds Ultimate Reveals February 2025 Release Date, Drops Gameplay Trailer

The upcoming Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate 2D side-scrolling beat-em-up, a remake of 2013’s Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds, is set to be released on February 13, 2025 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Switch and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store). The remake’s developer and publisher Rocket Panda Games has also released a gameplay trailer featuring the title’s co-op action and has announced that pre-orders will start on June 27.

Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate is available in Digital (US$24.99), Physical Standard ($39.99), and Physical Ultimate (US$109.99) editions. The Ultimate Edition’s exclusive bonuses are a Mikoto figure, a soundtrack CD, an artbook, and a limited edition box.

Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds is a spin-off of the Phantom Breaker fighting game that was originally developed by 5pb and MAGES (Rocket Panda Games acquired the Phantom Breaker IP in 2022). The Ultimate iteration uses Unreal Engine 5 and boasts six-player online co-op and eight-player online versus multiplayer in addition to four-player local co-op.

It’ll also let players choose between “an all-new soundtrack composed by all-girl J-rock band the Phantom Breakers or the classic versions from PBBG or PBBG Overdrive” and have playable enemies in Arcade Mode.

The Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds remake was announced in September 2023, with the earlier versions of the game being delisted on March 4, 2024. It was originally slated to launch this year.
