A new teaser visual and additional cast members have been revealed for the upcoming 3DCG anime film Pui Pui Molcar the Movie: MOLMAX. The film, based on the 2021 stop-motion anime series, will be released in Japan on November 29, 2024.

Masaki Aiba and Akio Otsuka are joining the film’s cast, voicing the film’s new human characters whose names are undisclosed. This marks the first time any humans in the series will be voiced and is also Aiba’s first voice acting role.

The story of Pui Pui Molcar the Movie: MOLMAX begins with the emergence of the first high-tech molcar in Molcity, with drivers having learned to ride AI-driven Molcars. Potato and friends find themselves involved in a dangerous chase between a mysterious organization and a Molcar AI named Kanon. They are saved by a highly skilled driver, who is searching for his missing Molcar. Together, they decide to use Kanon’s AI functionality to assist with the search.
Mankyu (The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague) will be directing the new CG anime film, with Yuko Kakihara (Buddy Daddies, Cells at Work!) writing the script and screenplay and Tomoki Misato (Pui Pui Molcar season 1 director) serving as chief supervisor and original creator. TOHO NEXT is distributing the film.
The new anime film was first announced in January 2024 with a short teaser depicting the lead piggie Potato.

The first season of Pui Pui Molcar aired in 2021, followed up with the second season Pui Pui Molcar Driving School in 2022. A compilation film of the first season was released in July 2021.
The series has inspired several merchandise, a Nintendo Switch video game, and several cross-franchise collaborations.
Netflix is streaming both seasons of Pui Pui Molcar, which describes the main synopsis as:
They’re guinea pigs! And they’re cars! The fuzzy and adorable molcars have lots of fun adventures in this delightful stop-motion animation.
