SEGA has launched a new collaboration campaign between the Shangri-La Frontier TV anime series and the Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis online RPG, which started as of August 21, 2024. The collaboration was first announced this past July and will run until September 17, 2024 (in Eastern standard time).
Players who log in during the collaboration period will automatically receive acrylic stand-style Build Parts of Sunraku, Psyger-0, Arthur Pencilgon, and OiKatzo.
The collaboration’s AC Scratch Tickets will offer new avatar items and other items such as:
- • Paint-type Portable Holograms inspired by the clan marks.
- • Voice-enabled chat stamps with quotes from “memorable” Shangri-La Frontier scenes.
- • New Weapon Camos resembling weapons used by Sunraku and his friends in the anime’s VR game.
- • A Mag Form of Emul as the Scratch Count Bonus.
Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis has previously collaborated with titles such as Ghost in the Shell, OSHI NO KO, Uncle From Another World, and most recently, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2.
Crunchyroll streamed Shangri-La Frontier worldwide, and describes the main synopsis as:
“When was the last time I played a game that wasn’t crap?” This is a world in the near future where games that use display screens are classified as retro. Anything that can’t keep up with state-of-the-art VR technology is called a “crap game,” and you see a large number of crap games coming out.
Those who devote their lives to clearing these games are called “crap-game hunters,” and Rakuro Hizutome is one of them. The game he’s chosen to tackle next is Shangri-La Frontier, a “god-tier game” that has a total of thirty million players. Online friends… An expansive world… Encounters with rivals… These are changing Rakuro and all the other players’ fates! The best game adventure tale by the strongest “crap game” player begins now!
