The production of a third season of the Spy x Family TV anime has been announced.
Accompanying the news was a “super teaser” visual of Anya and Bond, asleep in the center of a star shape formed by various light sources. Character designer Kazuaki Shimada drew the illustration.
Spy x Family is based on the Shueisha-published action comedy manga by Tatsuya Endo. Viz Media describes the manga as:
Not one to depend on others, Twilight has his work cut out for him procuring both a wife and a child for his mission to infiltrate an elite private school. What he doesn’t know is that the wife he’s chosen is an assassin and the child he’s adopted is a telepath!
The first two seasons of Spy x Family premiered in April 2022 and October 2023, respectively. The first season had two split cours. An anime movie, titled Spy x Family Code: White, premiered in Japan on December 22, 2023.
Season 2 was directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi (Spy x Family Season 1, Dororo) and Takahiro Harada (Season 1 co-assistant director) with Ichiro Okouchi (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch of Mercury) as series composer. The Code: White movie was directed by Takashi Katagiri (Spy x Family Season 1’s co-assistant director) with animation supervision from Furuhashi, a script by Okouchi, and supervision from Endo. The anime is a co-production between WIT STUDIO and CloverWorks.
The Spy x Family manga began serialization in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ in 2019 and has 13 tankoubon volumes as of March 2024.
