A new trailer for the upcoming Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream co-op game reveals that it will launch on October 3 for Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S and on October 4 for Steam.
While Fractured Daydream‘s main selling point is the co-op boss fights with up to 20 players, a story mode is included as well, and the new trailer highlights the game’s narrative side. For some reason, Eugeo, Quinella, and Sugo Nobuyuki/Oberon are back, and Sword Art Online Alternative‘s Llenn and Fukaziroh are caught up in whatever is going on too. Characters say lines like “I’m just saying what the impossible could be impossible. That somebody who couldn’t be here maybe is” and “What do you think happens to people who die in this world?” while the trailer displays clear yet vague words like “Memories overflow” and “The past and present, overwritten.”
Pre-order and edition-based bonuses were also previewed. Steam players get a Demon king set (from Sword Art Online: Unleash Blading) for Kirito when pre-ordering, while the Digital Premium Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition provide three days of early access.
The Digital editions also come with goodies like an Asuna cosmetic and Character Pass 1 (containing two Isekai Visitor DLCs and a bonus stamp set). The Premium Edition adds to that Sinon cosmetics, a digital art book with a minigame, and the game’s soundtrack.
In Fractured Daydream, players will join Raid Teams to fight bosses in the Boss Raid and Co-op Quest modes. There are more than 20 characters from the franchise to choose from, with each having their own unique skills.
The game’s official description is:
In SWORD ART ONLINE Fractured Daydream, a new system is applied to the world of Alfheim Online, but a malfunction causes all worlds and timelines to collide, creating a unique setting and challenging environment for Kirito and other players. All lost in uncharted territory, enemies become allies, departed characters are back and unlikely alliances will be formed to survive the dangers in this unsettled world.
