TOHO has released a short, vertical format dance trailer for anime movie The Colors Within, which features its three main characters grooving to the catchy insert song “SuiKinChiKaMokuDottenAmen.”
The Colors Within is set to premiere in Japan on August 30. The Science SARU-produced youth film is directed by Naoko Yamada with screenwriting by Reiko Yoshida and music from Kensuke Ushio. The trio previously teamed up for A Silent Voice, Liz and the Blue Bird, and The Heike Story, while Yamada and Yoshida have had experience working together since 2009’s K-On!
GKIDS, which is bringing the film to North America, Latin America, Australia, and New Zealand with both English-subbed and dubbed versions “this winter,” describes the synopsis as:
Totsuko is a high school student with the ability to see the ‘colors’ of others. Colors of bliss, excitement, and serenity, plus a color she treasures as her favorite. Kimi, a classmate at her school, gives off the most beautiful color of all. Although she doesn’t play an instrument, Totsuko forms a band with Kimi and Rui, a quiet music enthusiast they meet at a used bookstore in a far corner of town. As they practice at an old church on a remote island, music brings them together, forming friendships and stirring affections. Will they discover their true ‘colors’?
Anime Ltd. will distribute The Colors Within in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Europe, while PLAION PICTURES will do so for “Italian and German speaking territories.”
