A second season of The Idolmaster: Shiny Colors has been announced with a Fall 2024 premiere window.
Like Season 1, the TV broadcast will be preceded by a three-part theatrical pre-screening. Chapter 1 will begin screening on July 5, with the other parts to follow on August 23 and September 20, respectively.
The first season of The Idolmaster: Shiny Colors begins airing on April 5. The theatrical pre-screening took between from October 27, 2023 to January 5 of this year.
The Idolmaster: Shiny Colors is inspired by the game of the same name, which was released on the enza website in 2018 and on Android and iOS in 2019. The game has players taking on the role of a new producer at 283 Production who is put in charge of various idols.
The anime features idols from the illumination STARS, L’Antica, Houkago Climax Girls, ALSTROEMERIA, and Straylight units. Other characters include 283 Production staff member Hazuki Nanakusa (Hibiku Yamamura) and 283 president Tsutomu Amai (Kenjirou Tsuda).
The Idolmaster: Shiny Colors is part of Bandai Namco Entertainment’s The Idolmaster (stylized as THE iDOLM@STER) multimedia franchise, which began with a 2005 arcade game that was ported to the Xbox 360 in 2007. Previous The Idolmaster anime include 2007’s Idolmaster: Xenoglossia, 2011’s The Idolmaster, 2015’s The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls, 2017’s The Idolmaster SideM, Spring 2023’s The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls U149, and Fall 2023’s The Idolmaster Million Live! (also a CG anime like Shiny Colors).
