The Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Walpurgis no Kaiten anime movie has been delayed from winter 2024 to winter 2025.
The delay of the Shaft-produced title is officially attributed to “production circumstances.”
Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Walpurgis no Kaiten was first announced in April 2021, and its first trailer was released in September 2023. It is the sequel to the 2011 TV anime Puella Magi Madoka Magica, which has two compilation movies, and its 2013 movie sequel Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Rebellion.
Crunchyroll describes the 2011 anime as:
She has a loving family and best friends, laughs and cries from time to time… Madoka Kaname, an eighth grader of Mitakihara middle school, is one of those who lives such a life. One day, she had a very magical encounter. She doesn’t know if it happened by chance or by fate yet. This is a fateful encounter that can change her destiny- This is a beginning of the new story of the magical witch girls.
The now-defunct Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story spin-off game received its own TV anime, which began with a 2020 first season and ended in April 2022 with the four-episode Final Season. Final Season was also subject to a “production circumstances”-related delay, with late 2021 being its original release window. The eight-episode second season aired from August 2021 to September 2021.
A new Madoka Magica game, Madoka Magica: Magia Exedra, is currently in production.
