A new main key visual and PV teaser trailer have been released for the upcoming second season of Tonbo!. Season two will begin broadcasting in Japan on October 5, 2024.
The 33-second new trailer was posted on the It’s Anime YouTube channel with English subtitles. It spotlights an older version of the main character, Tonbo, participating in some upcoming golfing matches.
Most of the anime’s main staff is returning to work on the second season. Jin-Koo Oh (Beyblade Burst QuadDrive) directed the anime’s first season, with Mitsutaka Hirota (Rent-A-Girlfriend) as series screenwriter, Akira Takeuchi (Bastard!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy co-chief animation director) as character designer, Keita Hattori (Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion Z mechanical designer) as 3D director, and Nobuko Toda (RWBY: Ice Queendom co-composer) as music composer. OLM is handling the animation production.
New cast members joining the second season include Yui Ishikawa as Hinoki Otoha, Marina Inoue as Emi Kurisu, Eiji Hanawa as Hajime Udo, and Sanae Kobayashi as Shima-san.
They join a main voice cast that is headlined by:

- • Arisa Sekine as Wataru
- • Junya Enoki as Bunpei
- • Kenji Yamauchi as Director

- • Satomi Kobashi as Yuma
- • Shin Aomori as Gon-Jii
The original manga series was written by Ken Kawasaki and illustrated by Yu Furusawa. It was first launched in Golf Digest’s Weekly Golf Digest on August 4, 2014, with 52 tankobon volumes being released in total as of September 2024.
Tonbo! is licensed for international streaming by Remow, who are streaming select episodes on their It’s Anime YouTube channel for a limited time. It was also streamed on Amazon Prime Video with an English dub from April 2024 to June 2024, as it is broadcasted in Japan.
It’s Anime describes the main synopsis of Tonbo! as:
A dramatic tale of golf and humans, set on the beautiful Tokara Islands.
Igarashi has thrown away his past and fled society, relocating to Hinoshima Island. Here, on “Japan’s last hidden paradise,” he meets Tonbo, the island’s only middle schooler. To his surprise, this girl harbors an extraordinary talent for golf!?
This encounter marks the beginning of a significant change in their destinies.
