Steam users will soon be able to try the upcoming free-to-play “extreme” action RPG Tribe Nine when it begins its “Deadly Playtest” closed beta on August 9th at 3 PM UTC+9.
Closed beta sign-ups will be available on the game’s website until July 31 at 11:59 PM UTC+9, and the results will be announced sometime in early August. The cut-off period for the test, which will have Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese options, is August 15 at 11:59 PM UTC+9.
In addition to the “Deadly Playtest” launch date, a creators program involving uploads of player impressions of the test was also announced for Tribe Nine. Participants whose YouTube videos or Shorts are among the top 30 best performers will receive gift cards. Sign-ups and full details for the creators program are available over here.
Tribe Nine is part of a multimedia project that includes a 2022 anime. It’ll also be released on iOS and Android. Here’s an official description of the game:
Fight for freedom and survive the dangerous streets of Neo-Tokyo. Form a mighty trio of troubled teens, each with their own personalities, as well as strengths and skills to level up. Engage in life-or-death battles against warring juvenile tribes, massive mechs, and mysterious enemies across the dystopian cityscape. Help local city-dwellers across sidequests, and unfold an ever-growing adventure with free updates to the main story.
Akatsuki Games is the developer of Tribe Nine, with TookyoGames credited with the setting draft. The Danganronpa series’ Rui Komatsuzaki and Shimadoriru are credited with the character designs, and Danganronpa creator Kazutaka Kodaka has original draft credits in an older website for the game.
A trailer with gameplay footage was released last month.
