In February of 1964, confectionary company Lotte, which had been founded as a gum maker 16 years earlier, launched its first chocolate product: the Ghana Milk Chocolate. To celebrate the upcoming 60th anniversary of the start of Lotte chocolate, the company has gotten anime studio TRIGGER to produce a commercial featuring the upcoming new single from Ado, “Chocolat Cadabra.”
A 30-second version of that commercial, which will also have one-minute and “full” versions, is now available to watch on YouTube. The video is set in a chocolate factory and has three girls — one from the normal world, one from a world of magic, and the other from a world of science — as its main characters.
TRIGGER’s Yoh Yoshinari (Little Witch Academia creator and director, Cyberpunk Edgerunners character designer, Gurren Lagann mechanical designer) directed the video and designed its characters, while Genki Kawamura (Your Name, Suzume, Fireworks) has planning and producer credits. Chiho Kiyota (Brand New Animal co-art designer) served as unit director and sub-character designer.
The one-minute version of the video will debut during the commercial slot for TBS’ CDTV Live! Live! 2 Hour Special programme that begins airing on January 22 at 7 PM JST. The “Chocolat Cadabra” song will drop on streaming platforms on January 31 JST.
